Educational building (school)

Heanor

Derbyshire, UK

Project Description
Two-storey school building comprising a hybrid structural system of loadbearing timber frame walls with structural steel beams and columns to provide long spans and open teaching spaces. The structural design was carried out to Building Regulations Approved Document A, Consequence Class 2B, incorporating disproportionate collapse provisions including effective horizontal and vertical tying, robust load paths, and localised notional removal checks to ensure overall structural integrity under accidental actions.
